Under Construction. First ATW Party December 27-28-29 Germany

category: parties [glöplog]
Maybe find a cooler name and do not stick the name of your group everywhere (please.)? ;)
Under Construction is really not the best you can come up with, right? Come on, you are creative guys - I KNOW THAT. :P

Regarding these "a lot of new parties bla bla bla" things - I consider this "the replacement" for tUM - so well, please try to achieve something on that level; which of course is not so easy.

And to be honest - creating more and more new parties might not be such a great thing.
It's already hard enough for the "old" and established parties to get a fair amount of releases with a decent quality.

Nevertheless, I will most probably go to that party - whatever you name it. OKAY... well maybe even if you call it BitchFest or WhoreParty, but well... PLEASE DO NOT, THANKS.

As for compos, where will non-PC, non-oldschool demos go?

las: this is not "another" party, it's an exchange of one party for another - a process which takes place from time to time. It would surely be another thing if there was UNC as well as tUM.

So, it's a bit different in this case.

But yes, too many Demoparties are bad as well (as weird as that sounds) because it might lead to just more reasons and places for people to drink and do less and less really creative stuff because there's just no time to actually DO things.

I'm aware of that, selfquote:

I just wanted to mention that... regarding the other things currently happening.

As mentioned before, will be coming.

hey las.
Yes, I absolutely get you point.
We had an discussion about this already.

But now (my personal opinion, don't know what the other whores think), is that we got it and we keep it now.

Sorry to scamp, we didn't think of a short name. And we will use something else then UC, because this is reserved for you!

Maybe this will be the first fun compo... Find the best shortname and get honor for finding it, for he rest of the time human mankind exists and somebody cares about the name ;-)

But as the German phrase quotes: "It's all hollow words." / "What's in a name?"

So be there and be square! (because everyone loves cubes!)

A one-off party organised by a single group with only a date and a region provided makes me rather reluctant. The group name is not helping to be honest.

Hey, maybe you could do a smaller summer version at the time when UC would (not) happen. You could call the smaller UNC just ÜNCLIE.
Bombe: Yes. Lately Evoke has reminded me about how much I love the scene, and that I haven't done enough for it recently, and that I don't want Underground Conference to become just memories for the older farts of the scene, and I have also gotten the message that abductee and others have sent me. I have got some important things to do for this year at Viprinet, but I have decided that I will definately take care of most of the required early-on organizing this fall, for UC8 happening in July 2015. With the goal of UC beating all standards it previously has set in regards on how to do a demo party differently.

But back to the topic:

I am very happy to see that there is quite some fresh blood coming into german demoparty organizing, it was about time. Yes, las is right, having tons of fragmented demo parties in germany which are of low organizing quality and mostly BBQs to meet friends at (which also is a good thing!) can't be the goal. But with enough passion, this might be a change from the fact that during the last 10+ years, main-organizing of german demoparties has always ended up with the same tiny group of german sceners.

Organizing a demo party serving as a (potentially) temporary replacement for TUM in less than 4 months is a big challenge to a group of newcomer organizers, but the team behind UNC had good chances to sucessfully practice at existing german parties. And they are receiving significant backing from long-standing organizers.

Let's see what comes out of this.

Besides not liking the name too much either (the name is not related to the time of year, nor to the location or motivation, and has a negative tone), I am more interested in being sure I don't have to spend the time between Christmas and New Years Evening at a place which isn't the demoparty.

I will therefore support UNC wherever possible. Good luck guys!

havoc: don't be fooled by the name of the group - those guys are pretty awesome.

When they first helped out with organizing tUM, they rocked pretty much everything without needing any kind of pressure or extra motivation.

Since that year, they earned the subline "Surprisingly competent".

So if that's the only thing you're worried about - don't be. They have our full support and it's going to be awesome.

dfox: The name thing was just a side note, the lack of information is the main reason for me not to get too excited yet. I'd be happy to change my mind once more information becomes available. But right now, this announcements seems to cater mostly to the hardcore afterchristmas party crowd, and I'm just not one of those ppl I guess ;)

scamp: <3
Thx :-)
I forwarded your message to the other group members.

And havoc:
We have that decision to do it since only 2 Weeks.
At the time being the only obstacle in our way is the hall.
There are some options we are working on with a lot of energy. We had an awesome idea, but the hall turned out to be too small. So we have several other options and will visit those halls in the next week / next weeks, to make a decision where to go for.

As soon as we know the place, we will update here and hopefully surprise you (in a good way) ;-)

Cheers

I wonder if a couple of contestants could be found for a cookie competition, pretty sure my grandmas cookies would be nominated for the top 3 :3

They will even win first at the time when the clock tastes them and goes back four seconds.

I love the idea of cookies :)

Finally we’ve got our location.
The party will take place in the „Stadthalle Gernsheim“ wich of course is in Gernsheim .. it’s easy to reach with plane, train and car. So plan your travel to the lovely city of Gernsheim am Rhein. You will find more information soon on our website

A wise choice. Now I still have the chance to buy a Döner in Griesheim because I forgot that in the last couple of years. This even allows me to compare it to a Gernsheim Döner. That's unbelievable. Jeff!
